How to Opt In to SMS Alerts
To receive safety alerts via SMS from MyAmbits, a user opts in inside the app. Here is exactly
how that works, how messages are sent, and how to opt out at any time.
How to opt in
- Download and open the MyAmbits app.
-
When adding an emergency contact, the user must check the box:
"I confirm I have this person's permission to send them safety alerts via SMS from MyAmbits."
- The "Add Contact" button stays disabled until the user provides this consent.
-
When a contact is added, that contact receives a one-time confirmation SMS
identifying who added them, with STOP/HELP instructions — so the recipient knows they've
been added and can opt out immediately.
- Only after consent is given are any safety alerts sent.
Message Frequency
Messages are sent only in response to user-triggered safety events (SOS or
Walk Me Home). No marketing messages. Frequency varies based on user activity.
Opt-Out
Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time.
